NSM Super Thursday

“SUPER THURSDAY,” The Intramural After School Program At North Sanpete Middle School, proves to be a TREMENDOUS SUCCESS.

The purpose of the intramural program is to support a healthy life -style, and provide a safe and well-supervised location for students to enjoy fun opportunities to interact with peers while being physically active. “Super Thursday” rises above just playing games to incorporating more physical fitness and the understanding of basic health, sportsmanship and leadership concepts.

Our ‘SUPER THURSDY”, intramural program runs every Thursday, from 3:00 until 4:15. At 4:15, the regularly scheduled after school bus picks up the students and takes them to their hometown.

This is a total voluntary program, open to all students if their academic work is up- to -date. The number of students that choose to participate on any given Super Thursday varies from 25 to 85 students, depending on their individual schedules.

Students have a choice of 3 to 4 activities in which to participate, each Thursday. These activities change about every 3 to 4 weeks. Some of the favorite activities this year have been, working out in our Fitness Center, Soccer, Basketball, Gator-ball Medic, Wall-ball, Volleyball, Softball and Capture the Flag.

The core standards of health and physical education support this mission by providing opportunities for students to develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for practicing lifelong health-enhancing behaviors and have a BLAST with friends concurrently!

Mrs. Bedford and Mr. Roberts organize and supervise “Super Thursday” activities and are thankful for the opportunity to support the students as they build good fitness habits and make progress toward positive social new interactions. They also express gratitude to the North Sanpete Community Council, along with the North Sanpete Middle School Faculty and Staff.
