Parents and Guardians,

Living in a rural community is a privilege but is also means that as a district, we have many buses on the road each day and many families that rely on this transportation option to get their students to and from school. As we end our bus safety week, I thought you would appreciate a few pieces of information to help you better see the work of our transportation department.

  • North Sanpete operates 27 buses
  • Employs 26 bus drivers
  • 17 regular routes and 3 pre-school routes every day
  • Daily average miles = 1,601
  • Daily district average students = 1,165 and 88 special needs students
  • Total miles in 2019 = 342,178

As we move into our winter months of school, it is more necessary than ever to be aware of buses on the road.  We have about 5 to 6 red light violations each week in North Sanpete, most of these violations are from distracted drivers.  Please be alert and stop (either direction) when the bus lights are flashing red, this includes our ATV riders.  With this said, keep in mind that nationally, our students are 70 times safer on the bus than they are riding in a private vehicle.

We owe our thanks to these dedicated transportation workers for maintaining a high level of safety and getting students to their destination each day.  If your student rides the bus, please remind them of the importance of wearing a mask during the entire bus ride.  This will help us keep our schools open and everyone healthy.  Thank you.

I have included links to related transportation information if you are interested in exploring further.
