Dear Parents,

You will see that the main theme of this newsletter is all about parents. We know that strong relationships motivate students to participate in learning even when it isn’t easy. You play a major role in how your child feels about going to school and learning. Elise Hanson, one of our elementary counselors is a good resource for parents and I hope that you are taking a look at her messages each month.  Check out if you are seeking more support.  I appreciate our counselors as they work with students and parents to develop the healthy strategies that keep us engaged in the work of learning.

Another great resource for parents comes from the Utah State Board of Education.  This group of professionals created a document titled The 5 E’s for Families, The purpose of this document is to assist families in their efforts to develop strong dispositions. These dispositions are essential for any age, but for our children, these skills help them practice how to manage their responsibilities and relationships. I have attached the document with this newsletter. And if that was not enough, if you are a parent of a student grade 4-8, there is a free parenting education course, Guiding Good Choices that might be of interest to you.  It is a fantastic training and dinner is provided.

This past Monday was National IT Professional Day, so I want to express my thanks to our technology department and the good people that we have employed to manage our devices as well as our infrastructure.  It is very involved work that they perform, and I am grateful that they have the skills to keep us moving along

If you have a student driver in your home, please remind them to wear their seat belt and drive safely.  Watch for those pedestrians and school buses.  Let’s get everyone to and from school safely.

The district is in need of community members that would like to substitute in our schools.  If you have an interest to work as a teaching assistant or just help out in the classroom when our teachers are needed elsewhere, then please let us know.

Our local food pantry is busy serving the families of our community.  They are also strong partners in our schools as we assure that our children have what they need at home.  I have attached their mobile food drop schedule with this newsletter.  Please feel free to share this information with your neighbors.  Thank you!

There are a couple of other events that are coming up in the next few weeks.  I have attached a flyer for the Suicide Prevention “Walk/Run as One” taking place on September 28th at Snow College, and the Teen Alcohol, Vaping and Substance Use Parent Information Night to be held on September 27th at North Sanpete High School.

If you are seeking a COVID vaccination or qualify for a COVID booster, please connect with our local health department.  They have the resources ready to take care of you.  We will be scheduling another vaccination clinic soon.  Watch for more information.

I think I have given you plenty of options to keep you busy.

Please take care and be safe,
