NSSD Mission

NSSD Foundation

Dear Parents,

The weather is changing quickly.  Our mountains and valleys are incredibly beautiful with the change of color and the rain that we so desperately need.  Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the colder weather. Watch out for those slick roads and sidewalks.  Winter is coming fast!

I have a request.  As you go through your week, I would ask that you reach out to the principal of your child’s school and offer your thanks.  I can say from experience, that unless you have been in that position it is difficult to understand how demanding it can be to manage a school.  Our principals are well experienced, educated, and passionate about leading their teachers and staff as well as caring for each student.  Whatever the circumstance, they stand in front to care for students and all staff. This past year has been more then challenging and exhausting.  This group of principals are my team and they have proven to be strong, capable, and positive about the work of education. I am grateful to work with each one of them and hope that you offer your thanks as well.

October is Bullying Prevention Month.  The adults in our schools want a positive and healthy environment, but it takes all of us, working each day to correct problems that happen in our schools.  Please talk with your child about the need to report any situation that makes them feel unsafe.  The SafeUT app is a good way to report anonymously or send an email to your teacher or principal.

One more request.  If your child is old enough and allowed to use social media, please talk with them about the challenges that are happening on TikTok and other social media sites. There have been challenges posted prompting students to participate in dangerous and destructive activities.  Our resource officer and administrators take these types of trends seriously and we have taken measures to place additional security cameras around several of our schools.  Your help in monitoring your child’s social media activity and discussing your expectations for behavior makes a difference. Thank you for your help.

Students will not be in school this Friday, October 15th.  Fall Break is scheduled for October 25th and 26th

Enjoy your week and be safe,
