NSSD Mission

NSSD Foundation

Dear Parents,

There is so much that happens behind the scenes in a school district. We have teachers working in learning teams either by their grade level or by subject. Instructional coaches, support teams, safety meetings, technology meetings, staff meetings, administrative councils, active tickets for maintenance and technology….and the list goes on and on.  It takes so many of our dedicated professionals coordinating their skills to educate and care for all children. I am grateful.

When we meet at administrators, one area of focus for our time together is to review our district data.  This data could include results from a survey, feedback from stakeholders, or state assessment results.  As a result of our time together this year, we recognize the need to focus on positive behavior in our schools and more specifically on civility.  Schools are public places with students of all ages, backgrounds, and beliefs. As educators, we value safety, kindness, and service. We are working to support these values as we address language and actions that take away from the positive and productive culture of our schools.  I will let you know of our progress and appreciate your support as we move forward.

We have been working through this past year to update our district website. There is still much to do but step by step, good things are happening. With that said, we have posted the annual report for the 2020-2021 school year. If you have a minute, I encourage you to take a look. My thanks to our district staff for their assistance.

December is always full of activities, performances, and this month brings the end of 2nd quarter. Please watch those calendars, social media feeds, and school announcements so that you don’t miss a moment. Keep in mind that there are three weeks until the holiday break. December 21st will be a short day for students.

Not sure you have noticed, but I have had trouble with the district Instagram. I think this has been solved. I have set a new goal to post regularly and focus on the all the good things happening in our district.  Thank you for your patience.

December Board meeting will be held Tuesday, December 7th. This meeting will begin at 4:00 p.m.  The public is welcome in person. There is not a Zoom option available.

Enjoy your week and be safe,
Nan
